Terry Henry, USA

Artist Statement

The science of art continues to inspire my glass and metal-formed art pieces. My creativity is guided by elements of the chemical, physical and natural world that I have explored as an artist and scientist. I delight in understanding scientific processes of glass, organic elements, metal, and electricity, which provide a platform for artistic growth and development. Elements of my work represent science while my palette of color, form, and design embrace an intersection of the phenomena of the natural world with fantasy that challenges the boundaries of reality.

Bio

After a career as a scientist, Terry Henry answered her heart’s desire and turned to art full time. Since that day, she has never looked back. Terry’s unique style boldly embraces and celebrates science. She is best known for her electroforming work, combining real flowers, insects, and fossils with inorganic materials and her lampwork floral designs. Inspired by everything she sees, feels, and experiences, Terry brings disparate objects together to create pieces that are infused with distinctive energy.

Her extensive teaching experience in both the fields of art and science ensures that her workshops are easy to understand and follow. She is passionate about feeding the souls of many and sharing her knowledge... giving each student the opportunity to explore personal expression through the interweaving of form, texture, and line as they increase their confidence and expand their profile of creative work.

Terry’s work has been published in The Flow Women in Glass and Spring Galleries, 2019 Society of North American Goldsmiths Jewelry and Metals Survey, Soda Lime Times, and glass Bead Evolution.
